Week 4 – Gifted – With Love from God

You are a Gift

Gift-giving God, may Advent be for us a time of giving and receiving.

As Advent draws to a close and Christmas approaches, we’re invited to pause and reflect on the gifts that truly matter. The story of Jesus’ birth is filled with messages of hope, promise, love, and care—gifts already given, gifts for today, and gifts for the future.

The Bible readings  “Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved” (Psalm 80:3). In dark or difficult times, God’s presence is a gift that brings restoration and light. Where do you long to see God’s face shine in your life? What gift of restoration are you hoping for this Christmas?
Joseph’s quiet courage and obedience in bewildering circumstances offer another kind of gift—steadfast love and calm presence. Have you ever received the gift of someone’s faithful support in a tough moment?
Matthew’s Gospel tells us that Jesus’ conception is the work of the Holy Spirit—the creative force of God. Every life, including your own, is a sacred gift, made with deep love. Jesus is given two names: Jesus (“God saves”) and Emmanuel (“God with us”). These names reveal the ultimate gift: God’s presence, grace, and favour with us every day.

This Christmas, may you recognise the gifts you’ve received and the gifts you are called to share. Your life itself is a precious gift.

Reflective Questions:

How might you offer hope, peace, joy, and love to those around you?

What gifts will you give and receive this Christmas?
